Position: Senior Social Worker
Location: 4 Manchester Road, Bradford, BD5 0QL
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: 37 Hours Per Week

Job Responsibilities
Safeguard children, including those at risk of significant harm, by assessing and managing risk and making informed professional decisions.
Undertake preventative work to reduce safeguarding concerns and investigate cases where harm is suspected, using appropriate legislation.
Provide a comprehensive social work service to children, families, and carers through assessment, care planning, and direct therapeutic interventions.
Manage a complex caseload, ensuring all cases are effectively planned, reviewed, and evaluated in line with professional standards.
Handle challenging and high-risk situations, including cases involving multi-agency collaboration and complex family dynamics.
Ensure appropriate care provision by utilising available resources and developing innovative solutions where necessary.
Take responsibility for supervising service users receiving care and conduct thorough case reviews.
Prepare reports and act as an expert witness in court proceedings and other formal settings when required.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies and professionals to support effective decision-making and case planning.
Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, reviews, and assessments.
Mentor and support newly qualified or less experienced social workers, and contribute to student placements where applicable.
Manage workload independently while seeking support when necessary and applying current best practices in social work.
Contribute to training, service development, and departmental projects.
Engage in continuous professional development, supervision, and appraisal processes.
Apply ethical principles and professional values in all aspects of practice, ensuring service user involvement.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and high-quality case records in line with policy and regulatory standards.

Person Specification (Specific Requirements)
Substantial post-qualified experience in social work, particularly working with children and families.
Recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CSS, CQSW or equivalent).
Evidence of successful completion of a Post Qualifying Programme (PQP).
Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Strong knowledge of safeguarding practices, legislation, and child protection frameworks.
Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and make high-level professional decisions.
Experience working in multi-agency environments and handling complex family situations.
Ability to produce high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation.
Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
Ability to mentor and support junior staff or students.
Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles in social work practice.
Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
